We're Looking for a
Sauna Host

Job Description: Sauna Host

Location: Phillip Island, VIC

Employment Type: Casual – Weekends and evenings required

Reports To: Owners / Operations Manager

About Us

Phillip Island Sauna is a boutique wellness experience offering authentic, wood-fired sauna sessions. We believe in the power of contrast therapy, community, and creating a space for our guests to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy a personal reset ritual. We are a values-driven business that prioritizes exceptional customer service, pristine cleanliness, and great vibes.

Role Purpose

As a Sauna Host, you are the face of our space and the keeper of the heat. You will create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for our guests, guiding them through their ritual while seamlessly managing the behind-the-scenes operations—from tending the wood fire to ensuring the space is immaculate.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Do)

  • Guest Experience & Hosting: Welcome guests with authentic warmth, check them in, introduce first-timers to the sauna ritual, and maintain a peaceful, premium atmosphere.

  • Fire & Temperature Management: Confidently start, tend, and maintain the wood-fired sauna stove safely, monitoring the airflow and logs to keep a constant, optimal temperature.

  • Health & Safety Monitoring: Ensure guest safety during hot and cold cycles, keeping an eye out for signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration.

  • Facility Upkeep & Hygiene: Maintain strict cleanliness standards. This includes wiping down benches, managing towel turnover, restocking amenities, and ensuring the change areas and cold plunges are pristine between sessions.

  • Autonomous Operations: Open and close the site securely, managing the daily run-sheet and guest flow entirely unsupervised.

Key Selection Criteria (What We’re Looking For)

  • The Sauna Lifestyle: Someone who genuinely loves sauna culture, wellness, and the benefits of heat therapy. Your enthusiasm should be contagious!

  • Exceptional Communication: A friendly, confident, and people-focused personality. You can read the room—knowing when to chat and when to give guests quiet space.

  • Physical Resilience: Ability to work comfortably in a high-heat environment, moving between the hot sauna room, the outdoor elements, and handling firewood.

  • Reliability & Trustworthiness: A responsible self-starter who thrives working unsupervised and can handle unexpected situations calmly.

  • Availability: Flexible schedule with availability to work weekends, public holidays, and split evening shifts.

Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements

To ensure the safety of our community and compliance with local standards, you must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).

  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).

  • Clear National Police Check (obtained within the last 6 months).

  • Right to work in Australia.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive casual hourly rates.

  • Complimentary sauna sessions (enjoy the heat on your days off!).

  • Be part of a growing, local wellness brand with a supportive team culture.

  • A beautiful, tranquil outdoor workspace by the coast.
